This is in a case in which Shammy Mudenda, of house number G 192 Maramba Township is charged with robbery. It is alleged that on July 22, this year, Mudenda robbed Veronica Burditt Chisi off two cell phone, purse, national registration card, four ATM cards and cash money K800 altogether valued at K2, 400. At or immediately before or immediately after such robbery did or threatened to use actual violence to the said Chisi in order to overcome resistance to the property being stolen. A 41 year old of Dambwa site and service has sentenced to five months imprisonment with hard labour for stealing a tool box.

CHALI MULENGA Livingstone A 41 year old of Dambwa site and service has sentenced to five months imprisonment with hard labour for stealing a tool box. This is in a case which Sidney Kakoma is charged with theft. It is alleged that on unknown dates but between august 22 and 24 this year in Livingstone, he stole a tool box valued at K 1,500, the property of Simon Zulu. And facts of the case are that on August 22 this year Zulu secured his tool box after knocking off from the place where he operates from near jungle Restaurant. On August 24 when he reported for work he discovered that the tool box was missing and when he asked around he was told that the accused person was seen leaving with the tool box. The matter was reported to the police and the property was recovered in its full value. A 44 year old drug trafficker Patrick Moongwa has been sentenced to nine months imprisonment with hard labour for trafficking in 30.6 grammes of marijuana by the Livingstone magistrate court.

CHALI MULENGA   Livingstone A 44 year old drug trafficker Patrick Moongwa has been sentenced to nine months imprisonment with hard labour for trafficking in 30.6 grammes of marijuana by the Livingstone magistrate court. This is in a case in which the convict was charged with trafficking in marijuana contrary to the laws of Zambia. It is alleged that on September 2 this year in Livingstone, Moongwa trafficked in marijuana without lawful authority. Drug Enforcement Commission (DEC) prosecutor Andrew Pikiti told the court in the facts of the case that his officers received information that there was a male person in Mbita compound dealing in psychotropic substances. Mr Pikiti said the officers rushed to the area and found the now convict, during body search he found with 10 balls of marijuana. CHALI MULENGA Livingstone The Livingstone magistrate court has adjourned the case for a 70-year-old Barotse activist charged with publication of seditious materials. Appearing before Livingstone Resident Magistrate Chinkashi Chilingala yesterday was Phellemu Kaingu of Dambwa Township. It is alleged that on August 22, this year, Kaingu published, offered for sale, distributed and reproduced seditious materials that Lungu, KK and Rupiah sneaked into the Litunga’s Palace. When the matter came up for mention, state prosecutor Charles Nyambe told the court that he had not yet received consent from the Director of Public Prosecution (DPP) to proceed with the matter. Mr Nyambe made an application to the court to have the matter adjourned as he awaits for the instructions from the DPP. And Magistrate Chilingala said he would be adjourning the matter so that the instruction could be received from the DPP by then. From CHALI MULENGA in Livingstone A 16 year old boy in Livingstone has pleaded not guilty for being found in possession of marijuana by the Livingstone magistrate court. Appearing on Wednesday before Livingstone magistrate Asden Shanduba, was a grade nine pupil of Dambwa primary school in Livingstone. When the matter came up for plea, the boy told court that he had understood the charge of being in possession of psychotropic substances but however he denied the charge. “I have understood the charge, I deny being found in possession with the said drugs,” the juvenile said.    The juvenile was in court in the presence of an officer from social welfare department. “I will record a plea of not guilty,” magistrate Shanduba said. The charge of trafficking in psychotropic substances is contrary to Section Six of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act Chapter 26 of the Laws of Zambia. From CHALI MULENGA in Livingstone A 21 year old man of Zambezi sawmills compound in Livingstone has been sentenced to 12 months imprisonment with hard labour for assaulting a person again. Appearing on Thursday before Livingstone magistrate Benjamin Mwewa was Chinyemba Mandandi of house number 210 Zambezi sawmills compound in Livingstone. Manandi who is second offender in assault was facing one count of assault which is contrary to section 248 of the penal code chapter 87 of the laws of Zambia. In mitigation Mandandi asked the court to be lenient on him as he was a bread winner. However, in sentencing him Magistrate Mwewa said he had considered what the convict had said in his mitigation nevertheless in view of the fact that Mandandi was a second offender in the case of assault the court was left with no choice but to send him to prison. “The court has a duty to ensure that people like you are removed from society as you are danger, I will send to prison for 12 months ...
