The Livingstone magistrate court has adjourned the case for a 70-year-old Barotse activist charged with publication of seditious materials.
Appearing before Livingstone Resident Magistrate Chinkashi Chilingala yesterday was Phellemu Kaingu of Dambwa Township.
It is alleged that on August 22, this year, Kaingu published, offered for sale, distributed and reproduced seditious materials that Lungu, KK and Rupiah sneaked into the Litunga’s Palace.
When the matter came up for mention, state prosecutor Charles Nyambe told the court that he had not yet received consent from the Director of Public Prosecution (DPP) to proceed with the matter.
Mr Nyambe made an application to the court to have the matter adjourned as he awaits for the instructions from the DPP.
And Magistrate Chilingala said he would be adjourning the matter so that the instruction could be received from the DPP by then.
Magistrate Chilingala adjourned the matter to September 29 for another mention.
Meanwhile, the court premises were packed with Mr Kaingu’s supported who were clad in the red brats.
The group later went outside the court premises and sang their national anthem.
And Baroste National freedom alliance Livingstone chapter Chairman Jonathan Kwalombota thanked the people for coming to the court.
He urged them to court in more numbers in the next sitting of the court.
End
